Cíorsa, a faerie- bird healer

Ciorsa, Faerie Bird Healer

Ciorsa, Faerie Bird Healer

I put this up to show the evolution of an idea from conceptual sketch to finished painting. This fairy painting is of a bird healer. As with most of my fae she is designed to resemble other creatures in nature. In her case a tiger swallowtail. I imagine them to use the tactics of other nature creatures to avoid expending energy. My literary character sketch of her follows.

Literary Character Sketch

Her duty or gift is for the service of birds. She heals them and can train them. For this purpose she has elongated limbs, especially the arms and hands. These allow her to work quickly and easily through feathers.

Because of her gifts; Ravens, hawks and other prey birds do not tolerate her.

She is disinterested with the affairs of mammals, especially humans. She prefers to work birds known for their song. As all Fae, she has the gift of folding light to be invisible to most humans and other spirits.

Another fairy painting of a fae in the process of folding light is being finished. It is my own concept and I can’t wait to share it too. Since the market is so full of fairy art I have avoided developing my material.

I am thankful to all my friends who have pushed me to share my whimsical paintings.
